Introduction

 

The Tanzania Adoption Society ("TAS") is the only adoption society operating in the United Republic of Tanzania. TAS is a registered non-profit, non-governmental organization in Tanzania and is in the process of registering as a licensed Adoption Society under the Ministry of Justice.

Our mission

 

The mission of TAS is to serve children whose best interests would be met by being placed in loving, permanent adoptive homes. 

 

We believe that adoptions should be "child-centered"---that is, the goal of all adoptions should be that the best interests of the individual child are being met.

Wat we do :

• Liaise with and cooperate with various orphanages and children's homes around the country to identify and provide age-appropriate counseling to children who are eligible for adoption or foster care placement
• Provide advice, assistance, counseling and support to families who are interested in adopting or providing  foster care to Tanzanian orphans
• Organise talks and discussion groups about adoption and foster care
• Provide further education to government social welfare officers regarding adoption and foster care law and procedures by preparing adoption information brochures and homestudy procedure handbooks and organising workshops
